The ECoC and Me

Ambassadors

The primary task of the ECoC ambassadors is to popularize and promote the Pécs ECoC program. They help Pécs make a name for itself within and outside the country alike and enhance the recognition of the program. The ambassadors accept and agree to spread the main objectives and messages of the Pécs2010 ECoC programme. However, this is just part of their role. It is equally important that they should add to it their own personal conviction and experience and mediate these messages in accordance with their own personality and disposition.

Our ambassadors include personalities of Pécs origin with a widely-known and positive image who are prepared to take an active and efficient role in the popularisation of the Pécs2010 ECoC programme by attending events and representing the programme in the media.

The ambassador-title is not open to volunteers and applications can not be submitted for it. The title involves social responsibility, and as such it does not entail any financial benefits, remuneration or expense allowance.

The Pannon Philharmonic, , the women basketball team MiZo Pécs 2010, Vujity Tvrtko, Pulitzer Memory Award winning journalist, the Pécsi Vasutas Concert Wind Band and Ballet Pécs bear the title of Ambassador of the Pécs2010 European Capital of Culture programme.
